Commonly Used Inhalers

1.Beta adrenergic(Sympathomimetic)
- Stimulate b2 receptors directly, generally results in short acting bronchidilation
- Proventil(Albuterol),Methaproterol(Alupent),Formorerol(LA,Foradil),Pirbuterol (Maxair),Salmeterol(LA,Serevent)

2.Anticholinergic(Parasympatholytic,Antimuscarnic)
- Inhibit the effect of Ach, results in bronchodilation
- Tiotropium(Spriva), Ipratropium(Atrovent), Combinent

3.Corticosteroid
- Group of chemical secreted by adrenal cortex(Glucocorticoid,Aldosterone, Estrogen)
- Used for pulmaonary inflammatory disease thru anti-inflammatory effect
- Beclomethasone – QVAR
Triamcinolone acetonide – Azmacort
Flunisolide – AeroBid
Fluticasone propionate – Flovent HFA, Flovent Diskus
Budesonide – Pulmicort Respules, Pulmicort Turbuhaler.
Mometasone furoate Mometasone furoate – Asmanex Twisthaler
Fluticasone propionate/Salmeterol – Advair Diskus
Budesonide/Formoterol - Symbicort
